Those four letter F-words — Film, Food, Foam — are the top three contaminants causing the most trouble for the county’s recycling efforts. The Athens-Clarke County Recycling Facility goes through about 80 tons of recyclable materials EVERY DAY. And 12 tons of that material — about 14-15% — of that material can’tgo through the full recycling process. However, residents have another option to get rid of these materials without contaminating other recyclables.
Athens-Clarke County Recycling Facility welcomes any questions about recycling either at their facility or CHARM, and more information on their services can be found at the county website.
