There’s A Fungus Among Us

Many people in Georgia, understandably, try to get rid of fungus, especially in their homes. Ecologists though say fungus keeps the circle of life spinning.

Environmental Journalism Student Reporter Celia Palermo went on a field trip with student ecologists to learn why and how this happens.

While their research isn’t complete, they say they hope to understand the relationship between environmental conditions and the abundance of fungus and moss in the area.

A big thank you to Harrison Brock, Shant Ohanian, Laura George, Andrew Hickey, Jenna Peissig, Professor Scott Connelly and University of Georgia Costa Rica.

**Once their research is finalized, we will update with their conclusions.
